imo everyone who insists that saikis life was perfect and he was a spoiled brat complaining about nothing are just purposefully ignoring and misinterpreting the whole manga simply because they like other characters better and want to make up scenarios to make their fav seem like a precious little victim in every situation

its hard to explain but i see it happen a lot with specifically people who have dedicated accounts for other characters and constantly misattribute every issue to "saikis such a baby, my character has it way worse!" "saiki hurt my babys feelings once so i hate him!" "saikis such a spoiled brat, my baby has a way shittier life and never complains about it!" "saiki hurt my poor precious fav once so hes an abusive monster!"

and said "shittier life" that they "never complain" about is either the persons headcanons (literally made up) or... the character DOES complain about it and the person takes those words at FACE VALUE but ignores everything else, including things that actually HAPPEN right in front of our eyes

YEAH SERIOUSLY and its like. they limited chrom’s support options for a reason. he can only have potentially five other kids anyways. would it be that hard to write a mildly different one off line for each of them just so lucina can bounce off of someone? or just like. owain. hell, you could push tiki’s recruit earlier and let her fill that role instead. its just so weird to start valm’s arc with lucina introducing her character and incredibly tragic storyline only for her to get shoved into the background and just be around for a couple of lines that add nothing to the story. and its like, i understand why the valm arc had to happen, it’s a necessary development for chrom and a decent middle point in the game but i feel like it just wasnt executed as well as it could be. lucina being a big part of that. and i mean, yes i am a big lucina fan so maybe this is just me having personal beef that my favorite character doesnt do much here but its also like… shes pushed as the third main character of the game and yet?? ugh idk. plus if theyre gonna make time travel a huge plot point, maybe show us more perspectives on that like… making another time traveler part of the story so its not just lucina expositioning all over the place when she finally gets to talk

Omg I forgot about this one, and I'll fact check this later cause I have a copy of Bluestar's Prophecy, but one thing I forgot to mention in the "things fandom gets completely wrong" section yesterday is the idea that Bluestar "stole" Whitekit from Thistleclaw. Like, she walked up, told Whitekit he couldn't talk to his dad anymore, and just took full custody and raged at Thistleclaw for liking his son and Thistleclaw couldn't do anything (???)

When I believe what actually happened was that Thistleclaw stopped spending time with Whitekit on his own terms. In fact, Thistleclaw was the one shouting at Bluefur to stop talking to her nephew. If I remember correctly, once he got Tigerpaw, he just stopped hanging out with Whitekit as much in favor of his apprentice, and this is supported by Crookedstar's Promise where Thistleclaw (who's training in the Dark Forest at this point) mocks Whitekit and calls him soft.

(Also that first interpretation isn't exactly the golden "Thistle is good actually" smoking gun people think it is and I don't know why people think so. Like. He's in a clan, he HAS the power and time and space to keep talking to his own damn motherless son. If Bluefur does parental alienation, he has people in his corner who can help stop that from happening like literally 24/7. Also it bugs me how people either neglect to mention the part where Bluefur tries to look after Whitekit more because Thistleclaw was beating him up and using claws to train him, or they do mention it and present it like "Oh he has a different parenting method than Bluefur :/ Why can't Bluefur just accept that?")

Anyways on another note: had A Conversation yesterday and the consensus kinda was like. You hurt me so bad and nothing you ever do is gonna take away how bad you hurt me and I’m trying so fucking hard to be forgiving but the glass is just too broken and it’s not working… and we kinda left off on that note and I kinda feel like I should call and say something else? But at the same time there’s also just… nothing left to say. Because I know in my heart there are no words that are gonna fix it, and that was the whole point of the convo, which is. whenever ppl ask me what my type is (or even like. what celebrities I find attractive) I have a rly hard time pinning it down for them bc things like familiarity actually factor in a LOT for me so I don't tend to immediately recognise whether someone I've never seen before irl is hot or not. actually if we wanna get properly into it the reality of how attraction works for me is that I fall in world-rearrangingly devastating love with someone and my "type" then redefines itself accordingly as a category of ppl who remind me of them in specific subtle/less-than-subtle ways and the imprint of that sticks with me forever so whenever I find someone instinctively beautiful I'm always just seeing the ghost of past loves in their face or the way they hold themselves. but I can't explain that to ppl bc I feel like it comes across weird and a little creepy so I just laugh and tell them "well its arbitrary, I'm just attracted to ppl on an individual basis! um and also ayo edebiri is sooo gorgeous" which is true
